Power lift chairs are electrically-powered recliners that make it easy for a disabled person to get to or from their wheelchair or electric scooter. Lift chairs come in a variety of colors, fabrics and styles. The major manufacturers of assistive lift chairs are Pride and Golden.

Check whether the lift chair is partial-reclining (2- and 3-position recline) or full-reclining (infinite position recline). A 2-position recline lift chair has a sitting, a reading and a lifted position. A 3-position recline lift chair has a recline, a sitting, a reading, and a lifted position. A full-recline, or infinite position lift chair relcines back to a comfortable sleeping position and elevates the feet above the heart - also called the Trendelenburg position. These lift chairs have motors for controlling the angle of the footrest and back.
