Tilt wheelchairs allow you to shift your seating angle for pressure relief. The entire back and seat of the wheelchair pivots at the rear and tilt backwards. Tilt wheelchairs are for persons with hip flexor restrictions.

Recline wheelchairs chairs offer another method of pressure relief but only the back of the wheelchair reclines, making them appropriate for persons without hip flexor restrictions.

Although there are power-tilt and recline wheelchairs available, they can be a bit difficult to find because of their complexity and cost so most of this type are manually-operated.
